They’ve presented the community group with a new defibrillator, thanks to a Community Chest grant.
Wauchope parkrun director John Lawrie said he hopes the new defibrillator never comes out of the bag, but offered a big thank you to Hastings Co-op from all the park runners for their generous donation.
“It’s great to have this piece of equipment on hand in case we do have an incident during one of our runs, but obviously it is preferable if it never gets used”, Mr Lawrie said.
Parkrun events are free, weekly, 5km timed runs that take place all over the world. They are open to everyone and offer a safe and easy way to exercise.
Parkrun encourages people of every ability to take part; from walkers or those taking their first steps in running, to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience.
The Wauchope parkrun takes place every Saturday at 7am at Rocks Ferry Reserve.
