Camden Haven High School’s Ely Payne recently returned from the Sydney Royal Easter Show with plenty or ribbons and awards which reflect his hard work and passion for poultry.
The year 8 student entered the Youth Showmanship competition for poultry and walked away with a third place, a very impressive result considering the professionalism of the seasoned competitors coming from all over Australia.
Ely also showed his birds, receiving a first and third place with his Sicilian Buttercups.
His birds were also awarded Champion and Best Female.
Ely has followed up his Sydney Royal Easter Show success with more ribbons at the Wauchope Show last month.
He showed his Sicilian Buttercups as well as his Rhode Island Red Hens.
All his birds placed first and he took out Champion Soft Feathered Bird and Champion Junior Bird of the Show.
Horsemanship is taking Camden Haven High School student, Jane Laurie, all the way to Queensland.
The 14-year-old recently competed at the NSW State Sporting, Campdrafting and Team Penning Finals.
Jane and her stead, came home with a swag of ribbons. They placed third in sporting, fifth in campdrafting and she was part of the team awarded Reserve Champions in team penning.
Jane was in the zone team awarded Champion Team Point Score.
She was also selected as one of four riders who will compete at the Queensland State Finals at Roma in August.
