There’s good news for Wauchope’s ambulance service Wauchope in the State budget – there’s funding for the planning and construction of a new station.
Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey MP, announced that a series of major and ongoing infrastructure projects will be delivered for the community under today’s NSW Budget.
Mrs Pavey said there is an array of highlight items in the Budget for Oxley, including:
- Road Funding - $262M for an array of projects and grants to Local Government for construction, upgrade and repair works and measures
- Wauchope Public School Upgrade – multi-million dollar capital injection for new, permanent classrooms
- Wauchope Ambulance Station - funding for new station planning and construction
“I’m very pleased that the NSW Government’s sound economic management enables delivery of all this funding for priority projects.
“The massive upgrade of the Pacific Highway with our Federal Coalition partners will continue apace. Engineers and contractors are targeting later this year to open several more sections between Wauchope and Nambucca, and to complete all works early next year.”
Ms Pavey said there are many more project and initiative listings in the Budget detail, especially in the Transport and Roads & Maritime portfolios, in other agency areas and in the Restart NSW Fund as part of the Government’s robust 2017-18 Budget position.
“New South Wales is expected to record a surplus of $4.5 billion in 2016-17, with a surplus of $2.7 billion forecast for 2017-18 and average surpluses of $2.0 billion forecast over the four years to 2020-21.”
“This allows record levels of investment in infrastructure in every corner of the State.”
To support growing regional centres and their economic potential, the Government has reserved $1 billion for a new, four-year Regional Growth: Economic Activation Fund. The funding, which will come from Restart NSW, will support rail, road and energy infrastructure, as well as sports and cultural centres aimed at enriching the lives of regional residents.
“It is really pleasing to be able to deliver a Budget that provides more help for those who need it, continues to improve the services the people of New South Wales depend on, and builds the infrastructure for today and for future generations,” Mrs Pavey said.
