Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is calling for submissions to the Master Plan and for members to join a proposed Community Think Tank.
President Sue East said she encouraged all residents to get involved in the process.
“I think that council is on the right track,” she said.
“The Progress Association lobbied council quite hard to get this across the line and it was then included into their operational budget.
“We are calling for good community space that suits the entire community and not just one dynamic.
“I think it is achievable. But I think everyone should have input – make a submission – to the council.”
Ms East said there were ‘certain things the community needs’ in the document.
These included, looking after the elderly and ensuring access including mobility scooters is possible and also ease of access for people with disabilities.
We really need to address the critical parking issue too.

She also said the yet-to-be-determined skatepark site needed to be discussed too.
“And we really need to address the critical parking issue too.
“Currently there are only about 25 or 26 car parking spaces available yet we attract hundreds of people who have to park along the roadside every weekend.”
Ms East said the Progress Association also supported the formation of the proposed Community Think Tank which would include representation from the various groups involved in the foreshore area.
These include, the skatepark committee, Landcare Group, Progress Association, the Estuary Committee and the Revetment Wall Committee.
“You could also include the bowling club too,” she added.
Submission to council’s Foreshore Master Plan close on September 14 while nominations to the Community Think Tank close on September 18.
