Scott Cooper and his wife, Melissa decided to build a shelter, which can also be used for storage, at Wauchope Timbertown Tennis Club beside the Hastings River.
They consulted the club, who were delighted, and did it through their company, Scott Cooper Metal Roofing at High Street in Wauchope.
It was officially unveiled last week, when Councillor Sharon Griffiths and the young couple and their son, Jackson cut the tape.
Melissa said the couple play tennis and when it gets cold in the winter, they wanted somewhere people could sit in.
Councillor Sharon Griffiths said Wauchope is a very self-sufficient town, and that many facilities have been developed by the community, for example, the ambulance station, the tennis club, the swimming pool and Bain Park.
“Even the Showground was set up by the community, and Scott and Melissa are continuing that proud tradition,” she said.
