Throwback Thursday from November 1997 | photos

Let’s take you back to November 1997.  Twenty years ago, the lead story in the Wauchope Gazette was the theft of the newly-laid turf from the Rocks Ferry boat ramp which annoyed the council greatly.

Wauchope Public School celebrated International Teachers Day.  Joan Latimore from Wauchope won the Country Bake promotional competition, picking up several new appliances and products.

Emma Galloway and Rebecca Rich had both won first places in the Hastings District Dance Eisteddfodd.  Brad Dorahy had graduated from Newcastle University, while Matthew Bloomfield had graduated from the University of NSW.

Love was in the air with Piet Fonyn marrying Natalie Eldridge, and the couple had their honeymoon in the Philippine Islands.  And Louise Walker married Paul Hoole and they honeymooned at Surfers Paradise.

On the sporting front, soccer awards were presented, and junior football achievements recognised.
