BEATS and beautiful blooms made for a delightful Sunday at Bago vineyard. The 20th annual Bago Vineyards Festival of Orchids and Jazz on November 12 was a great success, with dozens of families enjoying a Sunday afternoon in the vineyard while soaking up the view and jazz sounds.
There were many different orchids on display with the Indian Dendrobiums taking centre stage with the late flowering Australian Sarcochilus.
There was a range of flowering orchids for sale as well as many different types of foliage plants.
Organiser Greg Elliott said that back when the shows started at the vineyard, Minnie Mobbs was still alive and had many visits to the show, just admiring the orchid blooms. He said she got quite a lot of enjoyment just to walk among the flowers.
“After her passing it was decided to make the Grand Champion of the show the Minnie Mobbs Perpetual Trophy with a very nice cedar trophy made and this is the major award given at this show now every year,” he said.
