Centenary of Wauchope rail bridges and viaducts celebrated | photos, video

Rail passengers had a treat when the Wauchope District Historical Society celebrated the centenary of the bridges and viaducts on Saturday December 2.There was a 100th birthday cake, an historic display, vintage cars and light horsemen.

Wauchope ambassadors were dressed suitably for occasion, as passengers or war nurses from 1917. They were joined by two members of the Manning Valley troop of the Australian Light Horse Association.

It was formed in 1986 by a group of Army Officers who had served in the Australian Light Horse, and started the Australian Light Horse Association (ALHA), along with other interested parties. The aim is to preserve the history and tradition of the Light Horse.

Rodney O’Regan OAM VA from the Australian Light Horse was a sapper in Vietnam and is a decorated Commissioner's Medal of Valour officer of the NSW Police Force.
