The women have just opened the doors to Hippitukka in North Haven which offers mainly vegetarian foods with some meat options available.
Kylie and Sophie said vegetarian and vegan foods are becoming more popular with the public.
“A lot more people want to be able to purchase healthy foods,” Sophie said.
“I think people are realising that you need to look after yourself.”
Both the women have worked in the hospitality industry for a long time.
Kylie has mainly worked in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region for over 20 years.
Sophie has worked in hospitality for 30 years in places including Perth, Byron Bay, Forster and the Gold Coast.
The women met while working at a cafe together.
They said they were looking forward to being their own bosses.
All the produce for Hippitukka is sourced from locals including Kenny Little’s and Pappinbarra growers.
