Wauchope Rotary coordinated a Christmas dinner for members of the local community doing it ‘a bit tough’.

The event was held at the Rotary Hall on December 20.
Rotary spokesperson Reg Pierce said the dinner was an extension of the club’s involvement with the Wauchope Country Club and Orange Sky Laundry.
“The Rotary Club has given its support to those who meet each Monday at the Wauchope Country Club for a barbeque and friendship,” Mr Pierce said.
“The Country Club has made available their shower facilities and Orange Sky launders and dries their clothes. These small measures ensure that our homeless get at least one solid meal a week, have clean clothes and can enjoy a little friendship and laughter.
“This helps to not only ease their situation but helps to restore dignity and hope.
“This Christmas, the club was approached to make available our Rotary Hall, so that the homeless and the lonely could enjoy a Christmas dinner in peace and friendship.
“The hall was made available from December 20 so that volunteers could prepare food which had been donated by several food outlets. Donated gifts were wrapped so that every child received something from Santa.

“Tables were set with Christmas decorations and the hall took on a festive air. Not only did local businesses chip in to help, so too did many families by way of very generous hampers.”
Mr Pierce said the club was proud to be involved in the event.
He said a number of organisations were involved in making the day successful. These included, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, Wauchope Country Club, ANZ bank, Stokes Butchery, Coppy's Butchery, Women's Shed, Baptist Church and M&S Offset.
“The many anonymous donors who just wanted to make a difference,” he added.
Mr Pierce said there was plenty of Christmas spirit flowing through the hall.
“Wauchope Community @3’s Victoria Fox, must be applauded for her tireless efforts to make the day happen,” he said.
“The day was an astounding success, if one takes into consideration that those who turned up on the day, were not only given a truly sumptuous meal, but the genuine companionship and love that Christmas represents.”
Mr Pierce said Wauchope Rotary had continually worked silently to addressed significant issues within the local community.
