It specialises in fresh local seafood and steak.
Executive chef and owner Adam Taylor says they serve grain-fed beef and dry-aged meat and they’ve had lots of people through the door since they opened in late December.
“I built a large following on Facebook before we opened, and the feedback from customers so far has been amazing, so we know that we are doing the right thing,” he said.
“If customers aren’t happy, we want to find out why, and fix it. We want to do something totally different from the rest of the restaurants in Wauchope, but not take away from them. We are doing our own thing,” he said.
“We want to be the best steak and seafood restaurant in the area. We offer a full selection of fresh seafood, none of it deep-fried. We rely on our local customers and we want them to feel at home,” said Adam, who has been a chef in lots of restaurants around the Hastings, including the Whalebone Wharf, the Westport bowling club and the Corner restaurant in Port Macquarie.
He said getting Coopers Bar and Grill ready to open had been a battle; his father helped him build the bar, and Adam built everything else with his bare hands over the past nine months.
