Port Macquarie head lifeguard James Turnham said lifeguards will moniter the hazardous surf warning through out the day.
“Lifeguards are aware of the conditions but are confident at this stage the beaches do not need to be closed,” Mr Turnham said.
“There is a lot of water movement at out two patrolled beaches, Town Beach and Flynns Beach and guards will keep a close eye on the conditions as the day continues.”
Mr Turnham said he advises all beach-goers to only swim to their abilities.
“It is important for people who are going to the beach to only swim to their abilities,” he said.
“Lifeguards will be out cautioning people about the conditions and people should only be swimming at patrolled beaches and between the flags.”
Despite the weather warning, Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke said the day time temperatures will be quite pleasant for the rest of the week.
“There will be little change in temperatures day to day right up until the weekend,” Mr Dutschke said.
“We are looking at temperatures in the mid to high 20s for the week.
“That said there will be colder nights and early mornings as we progress in April, nothing too extreme but it will be noticeable.”
