Tori Marr-Harris and Natalie Hurrell will join a strong team of 17, with Natalie as co-captain.
“I’m excited to be co- captaining the Group 3 team when we take on Group 2 on Saturday at Wingham,” said Natalie.
“From the last two years we’ve lost a handful of our senior players and leaders in Kylie Hilder, Simone Smith, Ash Alcon and Holli Wheeler which leaves Jazzy Wilbow (Port City Breakers) and I lucky enough to share the honour in captaining the side together.
“I’m hoping to be selected again for the North Coast Dolphins side and go one better then last year,” she said.
Natalie was a part of the inaugural North Coast league tag side which went on to win the Country Championship in 2016.
She was set to play in the grand final but due to the game being postponed due to the weather, Natalie was then too far on into her pregnancy with her son, Riley and was unable to play.
“Last year we made it to top four, so this year I’m hoping to be selected again to try make the final,” said Natalie.
“We have a new-look Group 3 side this year, with the loss of some experience, we have added some youth. We also have a new coach, Lyn Eason from Old Bar, who is doing a great job this year.
“We’re shaping up well, I’m looking forward to the challenge. I’ll also be lucky enough to play with my team mate, Tori Marr-Harris and my cousin, Larissa Ward,” she said.
The selected North Coast side will then take on Central Coast at Macksville on May 5 for the start of the Country Championship knockout competition.
Tori Marr-Harris has been playing for Wauchope for a few years now.
“I have never really been in contention for the rep sides so it's humbling to be picked,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to running out along side Nat and showing the group what the Wauchope girls have to bring to the side.”
Port City Breakers stalwart Jazzy Wilbow will co-captain the side, with Larissa Ward, Brittany Mackay, Di Lawrence, Georgia Williams and Nikita Binge also selected in the team.
In addition to their selection, Wauchope have also had five players make the under 23’s in the men’s - Tristan Scott, Jayden Sergeant, Liam Quinn, Dylan Hemsley and Kobi Hugen.
“The club are extremely proud of all our selected players and congratulate them all on their selections,” said Wauchope Blues president, Ged Roods.
“It’s a great indication of the quality players Wauchope has coming through the ranks at this present time.”
