It’s part of Telstra’s rollout of the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program.
Telstra area general manager, Mike Marom said it was a significant moment for the community around Byabarra-Bagnoo Road.
“The new mobile base station delivers Telstra’s 3G and state of the art 4GX mobile data services to the area for the first time,” he said.
“We know the important role mobile technology plays helping people stay in contact with friends and family, and run businesses effectively.
“We are proud to be part of this important initiative which extends the latest technologies across regional and rural communities, along major regional transport routes, and in locations prone to natural disasters,” said Mr Marom.
Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said this was another important investment in trying to eliminate most of the gaps in coverage throughout the Hastings valley.
“These significant improvements to the local mobile network will be good for local residents, good for local business, good for local producers and good for transport operators,” he said.
More than 650 new mobile base stations being built through the Mobile Black Spot Program and represents a total Telstra investment of $260 million.
Dr Gillespie said it complements the direct investment the government have made.
