The delightful Comboyne Plateau is always popular with visitors for its scenery, hospitality, atmosphere, gardens, experiences, and its history.
“On the first weekend in May however, you will receive a warm, friendly welcome,” said Donna Lance.
“We have a full program of interesting activities as the community comes together to celebrate the farming and pioneering history of the area, as part of the Oxley Bicentenary celebrations.”
While the centre of activity, displays and the launch of the exciting new Comboyne Heritage Cookbook will be at the Showground on Sunday, there is an eclectic array of things to see and do throughout the town and surrounds over the weekend.
Saturday May 5:
- informal morning walks around Comboyne and drive to local scenic sports – waterfalls, rainforest walks
- The Old Church in Hill Street art and sculpture exhibition, open 10am to 2pm
- Alan Latimore’s private collection of farm machinery and tractors in Hill Street
- Comboyne‘s beautifully restored War Memorial Hall open for visitors from 10am
- lunch at a local cafe, or picnic in Pioneer Park
- 3pm Nano Symphony in concert at Comboyne War Memorial Hall in aid of the Mid North Coast Refugee Support Group (adults $20, concession $15) refreshments available
- Udder Cow Cafe and Comboyne Club are open for dinner from 6pm
Sunday May 6:
- site of the future Comboyne Museum will be open from 9am. See the plans, talk to the volunteers, enjoy a Devonshire tea (fundraiser for the Museum)
- 104-year-old Union Church open for inspection from 9am. The fully restored building features local timbers. All are welcome to attend non-denominational service at 12 noon.
- The Old Church in Hill Street art and sculpture exhibition, open 10am to 2pm
- Alan Latimore’s private collection of farm machinery and tractors in Hill Street
- Lunch at Comboyne Showground from 12.30pm (fundraiser for Museum)
- Historical display of photos and artefacts in Showground Billabong
