The hall was packed with people eager to support the volunteers’ fundraising efforts, by tasting some of the tantalising treats on offer and finding bargains galore on the trading tables.
Wauchope Hospital Volunteers president Win Secombe said the culinary experience was an outstanding success, and thanked those who attended for their support.
A highlight of this year’s morning tea, she said, was a large contingent of Port Macquarie Pink Ladies who travelled to Wauchope for the event.
“We certainly had a morning to remember,” Mrs Secombe said.
“It was a wonderful fundraising opportunity, but just as important, it was a highly successful social get-together – a networking opportunity for community-minded people to come together and have a bit of fun.”
Also attending the morning tea was the Hospital Volunteers’ Patron, Cr Lisa Intemann, the United Hospital Auxiliaries North Eastern Regional Representative Dee Hunter, Wauchope Hospital’s Nurse Manager Yvonne Carmichael and representatives of community groups such as the Hastings Country Music Club and Wauchope Garden Club.
Guest speakers were Jeanette Rainbow and Daphne Salt who delivered an informative presentation on the history of the Hastings Valley.
Mrs Secombe also extended her thanks to the broader community for its support over the years.
“Every time we go to the community to raise funds for the hospital, people respond swiftly and generously,” Mrs Secombe said. “We appreciate the support, and so does our hospital and its patients.”
