The regular meeting on May 2 was well attended and a week later, members enjoyed a delicious lunch was enjoyed by members who celebrated their 80th, 90th or 95th birthday though the year.
Each year the club takes these achievers out for lunch with any other members who would like to attend. This year 23 members went to Rose’s Vineyard at Lake Innes.
On May 16, Wauchope Seniors celebrated their 60th birthday.
Members were entertained by local ukulele group Wauchope Strum and Hum, followed by Bruce Doherty. Members made a generous donation to Bruce following the hat being passed around. Bruce is supporting Give Me 5 for Kids as his charity for this year.
Photo albums and old minute books were displayed. Thank you to guest speakers who spoke of some history of the club and the friendship found with seniors.
The birthday cake was cut by sisters Von Hall and Brenda Foster, both long term members. A delicious lunch catered by Caroline’s Catering was then enjoyed.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peta Pinson was a guest for the event.
Donations of raffle prizes were received from the following businesses, Karen’s Hairdresser, Aussie Outback, Wauchope Barber, Harrisons Jeweller, Eco Wild,3 Little Birds, Wauchope florist, Wauchope Newsagent, $2Plus shop, Hilberts Hardware, Hair on High, JeniSha, Home Hardware and Hastings Co Op. We were also fortunate to receive a cash donation from Bundaleer Care Services towards our birthday.
