According to weatherzone’s Graeme Brittain, these current conditions are likely to persist for the next 36 hours – through to Wednesday mid-morning.
“Along with the colder conditions, there is the possibility of a shower as well,” he said.
“These coastal showers are likely to realise between 2 to 10 millimetres of rain with the heaviest falls restricted to the coast.
“For Wauchope and hinterland, those showers should be restricted to about 10 kilometres from the coast.”
The low pressure system is also seeing an increase in the size of the swell with waves of about two and two and a half metres pushing onto the shore.
These higher swell conditions will peak later on Tuesday.
Mr Brittain said the low pressure system was ‘quite big’ and is likely to remain stationary for the next 24 hours, before tending eastward.
“This will see these current conditions remain for a day before they start to ease,” he said.
“From about Thursday through to Friday the conditions will become dry and mostly clear.
“By Wednesday and Thursday, the minimum temperatures will be around nine degrees – along with some of that cloud cover – but we should then see some sunny skies and clear nights which will see a slight drop in minimum temperatures.
“You can expected minimum temperatures of about seven degrees on the weekend and maximums of around 20 degrees.”
