Mrs Pavey said the new facility will consolidate the existing Wauchope Ambulance Station site at 96 High Street with the neighbouring block at 94 High Street, Wauchope.
“The work involves the demolition of all existing structures on-site then construction of a new single-storey ambulance station,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The new facility will enable local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the mobile emergency medical care needs of Wauchope and surrounding communities well into the future.
“The start of construction upholds my election commitment to a new ambulance station in Wauchope as part of the $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program,” Mrs Pavey said.
A temporary station - at 51 Cameron Street, Wauchope - is now fully operational, and once completed, the Wauchope NSW Ambulance station will include:
- Internal parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles
- Administration and office areas
- Amenities
- Logistics and storage areas
- Relief quarters
- External wash bay
- Staff parking
To date, 23 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced under the RAIR program across the state. This represents the biggest regional and rural transformation of NSW Ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s history.
