The brigade successfully applied for several items to assist with the operations and management of their services.

The Association’s grant scheme provides items that are not covered by local council or government funding.

Hollisdale brigade captain Chris Roelandts said the laptop computer and a printer/scanner was invaluable in allowing the brigade to improve management and administration as well as communication with members and the community.

“The brigade had no computer and was doing all communications and administration manually and by mail,” he said.

“This computer enables the brigade to send all members vital NSW RFS information via email as well as keeping all records up to date.

”This will also enable the brigade to keep the community up to date with the brigade’s activities and important information including fire danger periods and total fire bans.

“We are a small, rural brigade with very limited ability to fund raise,” he said.

“The RFSA grants that we have previously received for furniture and a truck mounted fridge, as well as the latest grant, have enabled us to meet the changing needs of the brigade and ensure we can continue to provide this vital service to our community.”

Mr Roelandts said the brigade membership is thankful to the RFSA for their assistance and recommends other brigades apply for grants.

“The application process is simple and we were supported by the Association,” he added.​

RFSA president Ken Middleton said the grant scheme was a highly valued support service offered by the Association.

“The grant scheme offers a means of financial assistance to ensure the men and women of the NSW Rural Fire Service have access to items and equipment that make performing their duties just that little bit easier,” he said.
