It’s a hobby which requires a lot of patience.
It took Paul Coffre two years to complete his french 1762 Polacre-Xebec but he said the time was needed to get the model ‘just right’.
“It’s important for the model to match to the events of history,” he said.
“I get a lot of satisfaction out of getting it correct.”
Stephen Gooch and his 10-year-old son Ronan have a shared passion of models.
“We enjoy looking at all the varied skill and talent on exhibition here,” Stephen said.
Ronan said in the future he would like to create models of dinosaurs, tanks and battleships.
The expo showcased the work of about 86 exhibitors. Entry was by donation and all proceeds went to the Port Macquarie Maritime Museum.
The Port Macquarie Scale Modellers group was created by David Connolly and members meet on the second Tuesday of each month at Panthers Port Macquarie.
