May was a busy month for the senior citizens. Our meeting was held on 2 May and was well attended. On 9 May a delicious lunch was enjoyed for members who had celebrated either their 80th, 90th or 95th birthday during the year.

Each year the Club takes these achievers out for lunch with any other members who would like to attend. This year we went to Rose’s Vineyard at Lake Innes and had a group of 23.
This was followed on 16 May by our 60th birthday celebrations. We were entertained by Wauchope Strum and Hum, the local ukulele group, followed by Bruce Doherty.
Members made a generous donation to Bruce following the hat being passed around. Bruce is supporting Give Me 5 for Kids as his charity for this year.
Photo albums and old minute books were displayed. Thank you to our speakers who spoke of some history of the club and the friendship found with seniors.
The birthday cake was cut by sisters Von Hall and Brenda Foster, both long term members. A delicious lunch catered by Caroline’s Catering was then enjoyed.
We were fortunate that our Mayor Peta Pinson was able to call in, despite it being Council meeting day. We appreciate Peta making time on such a busy day for her.
Donations of raffle prizes were received from the following businesses. We encourage patronage of these businesses to repay them for their support for us.
The businesses are Karen’s Hairdresser, Aussie Outback, Wauchope Barber, Harrisons Jeweller, Eco Wild,3 Little Birds, Wauchope florist, Wauchope Newsagent, $2Plus shop, Hilberts Hardware, Hair on High, JeniSha, Home Hardware and Hastings Co-op.
We appreciate the support from local businesses. We were also fortunate to receive a cash donation from Bundaleer Care Services towards our birthday. Thank you. A great day was had by all.
