Wauchope Lions Club held their annual changeover function at the Wauchope RSL on Saturday June 23 to welcome in the new Board for 2018-19, opting for a luncheon rather that the traditional formal dinner.

Some of the 2017-18 Board remained; however, some new members volunteered to come on board to manage Club affairs for the next twelve months.

Retiring President, Gordon Douglass, in his address, advised that Wauchope Lions had enjoyed a very successful year, in providing many man-hours attending functions and performing Wauchope Lions mainstream function of catering at a range of events. Wauchope Lions are seen performing services on a regular basis throughout the Wauchope area.

Lions provided considerable support to our hospital and many other charitable groups. Gordon was pleased to announce that Wauchope Lions had during 2017-18, donated just under $30,000 to local charities and national medical research groups, a great effort from a small dedicated team.

Incoming President Mike Hussey thanked the team for the opportunity to lead them for 2018-19 and gave an undertaking to maintain the high standard of community service that has been the achievement of Wauchope Lions in past years.

The Wauchope Lions will be heavily involved in catering in the Wauchope Truck Show on July 14 and 15, and the 4WD in August and will again be will asking for community support in September for our major childhood cancer research raffle.

Mike would like to thank everybody, who in any way, supports  Wauchope Lions, who in turn have, as their central theme, helping our community.
