Return and Earn Network Operator TOMRA is encouraging Mid North Coast charities and community groups to apply to become donation partners at their local Reverse Vending Machines (RVM) before the next round of applications closes on Monday, 16 July.

As a donation partner, Mid North Coast not-for-profits such as schools, charities and sports or community groups have the opportunity to receive donations from 10c refunds on eligible plastic or glass containers returned to Reverse Vending Machines in the area.

A number of RVMs in the area are still in need of a charity partner so TOMRA is encouraging groups to get in their applications as soon as they can.

Network Operator TOMRA’s CEO, Ryan Buzzell, said they have already seen an overwhelming response to the Return and Earn Scheme throughout the state, with communities embracing the chance to earn money for their empty plastic and glass containers.

“Being able to support your local community through donations to schools, sports groups, local charities and not-for-profits is a great incentive for everyone to use the reverse vending machines and makes the positive act of recycling even more rewarding,” he said.

“Groups are free to use the donations however they see fit, whether it helps provide funding to buy uniforms, host an event, replace or repair equipment, or go on an excursion.”

Beyond the financial benefits of using Return and Earn, people across the state returning containers are also contributing to a cleaner environment.

With the scheme helping to contribute to a reduction in litter volume in NSW by 40% by 2020, everyone involved will be making a positive impact on our environment.

Local RVM’s still without a local donation partner include:

  • Woolworths Lake Cathie, Lake Cathie
  • Growers Market Port Macquarie, Port Macquarie
  • Coles Lake Innes Port Macquarie, Port Macquarie
  • Woolworths Port Macquarie, Port Macquarie
  • IGA Hastings Co-op Wauchope, Wauchope

Groups can check their eligibility and apply to be on their nearest RVM in the ‘Donation Partners’ section of the TOMRA website www.tcnsw.com.au
