The Hastings River Orchid Society will hold its AGM at the Wauchope RSL Club this Friday, July 20 starting at 1pm.
Greg Elliott from the society said that after the meeting, there will be a talk on how you can grow the beautiful Cymbidium orchids.
“Many people have them given to them and over a short space of time, say a few years, they become overgrown, lose leaves and really look terrible and cease flowering,” said Greg.
“Well, Mr Jack Koning will take you through the important steps showing you how to rejuvenate your ailing orchid.”
Greg says it takes knowledge on how to attack such plants, in dividing and them re-potting them so they will recover and flower once again for you.
“So if you have this problem at home do come along and be informed how to rejuvenate those dilapidated orchids, and you will soon be having a blooming spring with flowers in abundance,” said Greg.
At the society’s last meeting, the popular vote went to Paul Sloan with a beautifully flowered Rcs. Rawdon Jester, a well-flowered plant which is not commonly seen.
The Port Macquarie Orchid and Bromeliad Society are having a guest speaker from the USA talk on Cattleyas on Monday July 23 in the Port Panthers Club at 7pm sharp. Contact Ken McNaught on 0418 249 812 if you would like to attend.
