Wauchope woman, Jessica Williams says she’s already had a fantastic response to a fundraising night to be held at the Beechwood Cafe on Saturday August 25.
The Beechwood Buys A Bale drought relief fundraiser will start at 6pm, with live music, raffles and lucky door prizes.
“I’m hoping that as many people as possible will join us in a fantastic night, raising much-needed funds for our Aussie farmers affected by drought,” said the busy mother-of-three, who works part-time.
“There will be live music, a huge raffle with lots of awesome prizes, and overall a great night to be had, and all for a great cause.”
Jess was moved to organise the night, after seeing stories on social media about so many farmers and their families struggling to keep their stock alive and put food on their tables.
“Farmers in Queensland and Northern NSW need our help to keep their cattle, sheep and horses alive through one of the worst droughts in living history,” she said.
“Australian farmers are the backbone of our country. For hundreds of years they've fed us all. Now they need our support to keep their cattle alive.”
Jess got involved with the non-profit organisation, Buy A Bale at www.buyabale.com.au
“Some hay is donated, some they buy, so they’re feeding a hay farmer and their family. Some of their truckies are donating their time and diesel,” said Jess.
“Donations towards our farmers card inject immediate cash into rural towns, city cash going bush, and finally, what hay they deliver saves farmers cash they can continue to spend on other essential items.”
Raffle prizes are being donated by local businesses and Jess has already been inundated with prizes from Wauchope, Beechwood and Port Macquarie.
Local businesses who are interested in donating raffle prizes please contact Jessica Williams on 0419492037 who is also selling tickets for the big night.

The Beechwood Cafe are providing the venue free of charge, and donating 10 percent of the profits from the night to the Buy A Bale campaign.
The band, Everything But Anchovies are performing free.
