The pair, who wanted to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of two random numbers from Bonny View Store.
The private syndicate was the first place winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1113, which was revealed on Friday, July 27.
When a NSW Lotteries official contacted the winner on Monday, July 30 to confirm the win, the two friends couldn’t contain their excitement.
“I am in this with a friend of mine, she’s here right now and we’ve just cracked a beer, mate,” the man said.
“We don’t ever drink before five, but now we have something to celebrate.
“We are definitely going to go out for dinner tonight; we will get some Chinese probably.”
It’s an early present for the winning man.
“It’s actually my birthday next week, so it’s a happy birthday to me,” he said.
The man said the money would have a big impact on their lives.
“It’s going to make a world of difference for us,” he said.
“It will make life so much easier, it’s life enhancing.
“We will definitely plan a few holidays, we just have to decide where to go.
The man thought his wife would be glad he purchased the ticket.
“I can’t wait to tell her. She’s going to get a huge surprise,” he said.
Bonny View Store owner Hari Padmanabha said the store was excited to have sold a first prize winning entry.
Hari has been at the store for the past three years and this is the first time the business has had a win.
“We are ecstatic about the win and we are really happy for our winner,” he said.
“We are excited because it is the first big win for our shop!
“We hope it’s the start of a winning streak.”
Last financial year, 113 Lucky Lotteries first and jackpot winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions won more than $23.57 million.
The biggest individual jackpot prize was won by a young Inner-West Sydney man with $6.87 million.
