A new courtyard and play area at Wauchope library is already a big hit.
The usual Monday morning storytelling and craft session was extra-special on August 6 when the doors were opened and the children went outside.
They could draw on the blackboard, make jigsaws, ride the big wooden car or just sit in the shade with their mums and dads.
“It’s a beautiful area,” said Maria Coen, who’s originally from Poland and was there with her son, Vincent and daughter, Rosie.
“The library have an amazing service. They get Polish books for me from Canberra. Vincent, who’s five, speaks very good Polish and they get books for him too.”
“It’s fantastic,” said Romona Webb, who was there with her son, Owen.
“It’s great to get the kids outside for some fresh air, and playing in a sensory garden, after story time,” she said.
Her friend, Megan Ostler, who was there with her son, Spencer, agreed.
“It’s excellent. We come here every week. Spencer loves the stories and the craft, and this makes it even better,” she said.
Wauchope library, Kylie Rose said it will be open to everyone, even adults who want to sit outside.
