Intruders broke into Huntingdon Public School on the Oxley Highway early on Monday August 13. They caused some damage and got into a number of sheds and stole a hedge-trimmer and some petrol.
The police are investigating the break-in and taking fingerprints. The school has had to have damaged locks and doors fixed, replaced and upgraded.
To further enhance security at the school, all gates will now be chained and padlocked in the afternoons, after students and staff members leave.
The school is asking members of their community to be vigilant about the building’s security outside school hours, and if they see strange vehicles around the grounds, to contact Wauchope police who will send a patrol care out.
