The kindies from Long Flat Public School joined in the fun, petting calves, farm dogs, lambs and riding a Shetland pony.
Long Flat Pre-school director Michelle Partridge said many of the children come from farming backgrounds and are used to animals.
“We thought we would do something for the farmers out west who are suffering,” she said.
“Families brought in groceries and joined in the Hastings Co-op appeal. We dressed up as farmers and our local farmers brought in baby farm animals for the day and the children love it.”
Next month, the pre-schoolers will visit two farms.
“It’s to show the children how important farming is to our life,” said Michelle.
