The society will once again hold its 37th Annual Spring Show on Sunday September 2 in the Wauchope RSL Club, from 10am till 3pm.
“We are very pleased to announce that the Hon. Melinda Pavey MP has accepted our invitation to being the patron of our orchid society and will be in attendance on Sunday to hand out the major winners’ prizes,” said Greg Elliott from the society.
There will be a huge volume of orchids in flower with emphasis on Australian native orchids. There will also be a great display of quality bromeliads benched, and many different types of bromeliads to enjoy.
The sales table will be bursting with orchids in flower, and other foliage plants will be there for sale.
“Our orchid society members are here to help people grow their orchids better and get them back flowering once again,” said Mr Elliott.
“We have started a Green Growers Group within the society and you will learn how to look after your orchids and grow them much better. This is really excelling, and each meeting is centered around this theme and is working really well,” he added.
The Port Macquarie Botanical Art Group will be displaying their beautiful artwork, depicting the Australian bush flowers. They displayed at the society’s autumn show in May this year, and were greatly received and appreciated.
“Just ask the artists questions and you will be amazed with how much work goes into producing these beautiful works of art,” said Greg Elliott.
