Kendall National Violin Competition (KNVC) 2017 finalist Mitzi Gardner was accompanied by Jeanell Carrigan, and they received rapturous applause.
The Schubert Piano Trio with Goetz Richter (violin), Jeanell Carrigan (piano) and Leslie Tan (cello) was another hit and some audience members said the performance was equal to any concert played at major stages.
All musicians donated their time and talent free of charge in recognition of the 20th year of the KNVC and the ongoing costs of running the prestigious competition.
The final round of the competition is on Saturday, September 15 with a celebration concert on Sunday, September 16 at the Kendall School of Arts.
Tickets for the final round cost $40 full day, $20 half day and students $20/$10.
For the celebration concert tickets cost $40 and $15 for students.
