He was at Berri in South Australia, for a week and half earlier this month, with the New South Wales Country Women’s Hockey Team, as assistant coach.
“We went through our pool matches, and played really well and finished second in the pools and we won our semi-final on a shoot-out,” he said.
“Then we were in the gold medal match. Unfortunately, we went down one-nil to Queensland. It was really good.
“We did really well, with a great bunch of players from country New South Wales, who worked really well together,” said Colin.
Colin says he was flying the flag for Wauchope, as it was his first time as assistant coach in the seniors state team.
He said it was a good chance to learn from a great coach, Wally Gainor. He was really proud of how well everyone worked together, and he hopes to take all he has learned and share it with Wauchope players.
12 of the team have been picked for the national team to go to Fiji and New Zealand in December and April next year.
