Patricia admitted on the particular day in July she was having a ‘shocker’, but really wanted to notch up a good score on the last hole.
She got out her ‘big club’ and described the hit as a ‘terrible shot’.
“The ball just went bouncing down the fairway,” she said.
“When I was told it went in, I just had to laugh as I wasn’t expecting it at all.”
Patricia has played golf for the last 32 years, the last 23 have been at Kew Country Club with the Lady Vets.
An avid golfer, Patricia attends the course three times a week to play.
“It (hole-in-one) didn’t come easy that’s for sure,” she said.
Patricia said majority of golfers go without ever getting a hole-in-one.
“I believe it’s estimated to be about 10 per cent of golfers who achieve one,” she said.
Patricia’s husband introduced her to the sport in Sydney.
He is very proud of her latest achievement.
“I couldn’t wait to get home to tell my three daughters and husband,” Patricia said.
As a 76-year-old, Patricia wants people to never give up on achieving the lucky shot.
“Never think you’re too old,” she said.
