Registered nurse in Port Macquarie Base Hospital’s emergency department, Liz Garey, found the cuddly toy during her shift on August 17, and is now putting the call out to find Teddy’s owner.
“Teddy was just sitting in the waiting room on Friday and no-one was quite sure where Teddy’s owner had gone,” Ms Garey said.
“We don’t even know if Teddy’s owner was a patient or coming to the hospital to visit someone.
“But it was clear Teddy was suffering from a neck injury so we took him to one of our great surgeons who performed the delicate surgery.
“Teddy has a few stitches, but is on the mend and ready to go home – if we can find the missing owner.”
Ms Garey said she was keen to reunite Teddy and its owner as soon as possible.
“The surgery went very well and now Teddy is just pining for family,” she said.
“We are not sure if Teddy is a girl or a boy but it is obvious Teddy is a well-loved member of someone’s family.
“So we are hoping by getting the word out so we can reunite the pair soon.”
