After the Mid North Coast Local Health District media unit and the Port News put the word out about a missing teddy Dannielle was quick to get in touch.
The emotional reunion took place where it all began, at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital’s emergency department on August 22.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the post on Facebook,” Dannielle said.
“We had come to the emergency room on Friday and I thought my son had left Teddy in the car so I didn’t know he was missing.
“Then I was tagged in the post and it was really emotional, but I am so glad he was found.”
Danielle said Teddy had become a family heirloom and was very happy to get the bear back.
“When I was born I was given Teddy and since I have had my children they have tried to claim Teddy, but really it is mine,” she said.
“I am so thankful to the nurses and staff who looked after Teddy and I have to say he is looking better than he has in a long time.
“I think it is pretty hilarious that they actually stitched him up but I am grateful they did.
“I also can’t believe they went to all the trouble of searching for me and I just can’t say thank you enough to everyone who helped us get reunited.
“I don’t know what I would have done if we had lost him forever.”
Liz Garey, a registered nurse in Port Macquarie Base Hospital’s emergency department found Teddy during her shift on August 17, and wanted to do everything in her power to reconnect Teddy to his owner.
“Teddy was just sitting in the waiting room on Friday and no-one was quite sure where Teddy’s owner had gone,” Ms Garey said.
“He was suffering from a neck injury so we took care of him and are just glad that he has been reunited with his owner.”
