A highlight of the Bundaleer Garden Clubcalendar, the Spring Garden Festival is enjoying its most successful event ever. With many entries into each of the competition categories, they are gearing up for a fun filled morning tea and awards ceremony at Bundaleer, on Saturday 15 September from 10am.
Event organiser Cheryl Hoole was particularly excited at the support for the event, with so many residents entering in multiple categories.
“The momentum from last year has really continued – which is so great to see,” she said.
“You can see the pride and the passion that has gone into each and every entry, and we are quite literally surrounded by beauty every way we turn. It brings a tear to my eye and I am really proud to be a part of it”.
The competition is hotly contested with many of last year’s winners among the entrants in this year’s events for categories which include Best garden bed, Best rose, Best hanging basket,Best shrub, Best pot plant, Best indoor plant and Best fern.
The awards were judged by Julie Lowe of Greenbourne Nursery and will be presented at Saturday’s ceremony by the Honorable Dr David Gillespie, Julie Lowe, and Bundaleer Independent Village Manager, Sheree Cheetham.
This year the Spring Garden Festival also forms part of the Hastings Valley Bicentenary, and guests and visitors are invited to attend the awards and see the results of the ‘green thumbs’ of Bundaleer.
As a part of the celebration, there will be morning tea, craft stalls, raffles and plant sales, a barbecue by the Wauchope Lions Club, as well as tours of Bundaleer and available units. Everyone is welcome to attend.
On behalf of the Bundaleer Garden Club, Mrs Hoole thanked both Bundaleer and Greenbourne Nursery for their continued support and congratulated all this year’s entrants for making the Garden Festival such a wonderful success.
“I’m so excited to see who will take out the titles this year and living among so many talented green thumbs – I just can’t wait to see what next years Spring Garden Festival brings,” she said.
If you would like to join in the fun of the Bundaleer Garden Festival please join us from 10am for morning tea at the Barbecue Area of Bundaleer, 142a Cameron Street, Wauchope. Presentation begins at 11am.
