The campaign, which was launched on Tuesday, September 11, aims to ensure that people on a date don't feel intimidated or unsafe.
Chairperson of the Port Macquarie Liquor Accord, Alistair Flower, says Ask for Angela is an excellent response to the rapid rise of online dating apps.
"Many people are meeting for dates at bars, clubs and pubs having never met, beyond the screens of their phone or computer," he said.
"We don't want people feeling intimidated when they're on that first date.
"This is a rising issue. If anyone feels unsafe, they know they have the support of the staff at the licensed premises.
"Essentially, Ask for Angela, is designed to reassure the patrons and community that our licensed premises are a safe haven."
Mr Flower said Accord members at the launch will be training all staff as part of the campaign roll out.
"The Ask for Angela initiative starts this weekend," he added.
AHA NSW Director of Liquor and Policing John Green said the campaign supplements the role licencees already play.
"This campaign says, quite simply, go out on your first date but know you are not alone," he said.
"Particularly where that date does not necessarily match the profile of the person you originally agreed to meet."
Mr Green said the phrase Ask for Angela is a verbal trigger that trained staff will recognise and then act on.
"The staff are fully trained and will act accordingly, be that monitoring the situation, alerting security or even contacting police if necessary.
"This is as much about awareness as it is a safety campaign."
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams praised the Port Macquarie Liquor Accord on taking up the initiative.
"It is really fantastic to see the Accord embrace this campaign," she said.
"Our Accord does an amazing job, across a number of issues.
"Ask for Angela is a modern approach to a modern issue."
Mrs Williams said Ask for Angela posters and other advertising will be displayed throughout licensed premises will act as a deterrent to unwanted behaviour.
