Four Joeys students attended the Polding Athletics Carnival in Newcastle on Friday September 14.
They competed against other students from the following dioceses:
- Armidale
- Bathurst
- Maitland-Newcastle
- Wilcannia-Forbes
- Broken Bay and
- Lismore
“These very skilled, talented students were excellent ambassadors representing their family, school and diocese,” said teacher, Maria Wilson.
The students achieved some excellent results on the day and two of them exceeded all expectations.
Tom Baker came first in the 100m sprint in the 12/13 years event in a time of 13.27 and Grace Smith came third in the 200m sprint in the Under 10’s event in a time of 30.58.
They will now have the opportunity to attend the NSW PSSA State Athletic Championships in Term Four at Homebush in Sydney.
“This is such an incredible achievement,” added Mrs Wilson.
