Port Macquarie-Hastings Council undertook restoration works to provide better protection from flood.
The work saw council install some 150 metres of rock wall.
A council spokesperson said the installation of rock on the section of embankment adjacent to Princess Avenue and restoration of park areas has progressed ahead of schedule.
“The nearby pedestrian path is expected to reopen this Friday September 28,” the spokesperson said.
“Further restoration work will now move onto the section of embankment between Pebble Beach and the boat ramp.
“This additional work will further reinforce the existing wall where required and is expected to commence in around a month’s time subject to material and contractor availability.
“The pedestrian path adjacent to the rock wall at this section will remain open during the works, however access to the river bank will be restricted, with barrier fencing in place around the work site to ensure public safety.”
Stage 2 of the rock wall restoration works are expected to take two weeks to complete.
Upgrades to the Rocks Ferry Reserve revetment wall will cost $200,000.
