The organisers of the Beechwood Billycart Derby say it would be a good time to fix up your old cart or even build a new one, in time for the 2018 version of the epic race.
This year's event is on October 21.
Entries are now open in the junior and senior races.
The day's action-packed program gets underway at 9am with family-friendly events including market stalls, kids rides, face painting, slushies and ice-creams, said a spokesperson for the event.
"We are again hosting that wonderful spectacle - mud crab races too," the spokesperson said.
"There is live music with Gary King from 1pm who will entertain you throughout the afternoon while a barbeque is operating all day."
Carts need to be present by 10.30am for scrutineering with the road closure of Pappinbarra Road at 11am.
The 5km course of the Beechwood Billycart Classic starts on Mt Pappinbarra, at 422/424 Pappinbarra Road, West Frazers Creek.
From there, it winds through sharp bends and fast straights, before flattening out, with a couple of slight uphill stretches, before the last run down to the finish line at the Beechwood Hotel.

The Beechwood Billycart Classic is a great fun day for both adults and kids.
The billycart races cater for 100kph speedsters racing down Mt Pappinbarra, veterans and kids’ races, set in the relaxed village atmosphere of Beechwood.
Started in 1980, the 5km adult’s course attracts entries from far and wide, with the top racers exceeding 100kph.
The current race record of 5.48 was set by Bob Johnson and Steve Johnson in 2010.
Since there are a couple of small uphill sections, billycarts for the Classic are unique in the world, in that they are two-person.
One does the driving, whilst the other – the co-driver – needs a fit pair of legs to keep the power up when gravity’s working against them.
Children do a much shorter downhill-only course down the main street of Beechwood, but since its only a gentle decline, they use a ‘co-driver’ too.
Entry forms available at Beechwood Hotel, Wauchope Sports Store or visit www.billycartclassic.com.au
