The event at the Wauchope RSL is sure to be a hit with MC renowned bush poet Carol Heuchan, entertainment from musicians Jo Hord and Blake O’Connor and a charity auction.
But at the heart of the evening is the push to raise money for farmers struggling through the grips of NSW’s drought.
Footprints in Ag (FIA), an agricultural group run by youth, are keen to support the show society’s event having run charity events previously for drought and the Pappinbarra fires.
FIA President Bec Bennett said there is immense pressure on farmers at the moment who are trying to grow the food we eat with a lack of resources.
“The drought has caused devastating impacts on the Australian environment and our communities,” she said.
“It’s affected so many people in different ways and we’re just trying to ease the pressure a little bit by supporting charities that give to families in need of assistance.”
Andrew Carroll of FIA and the Wauchope Show Society said the Aussie Helpers charity was chosen due to the work they do in helping farmers in various ways.
“By choosing Aussie Helpers as our beneficiary the funds we raise will be used across a broad range of issues farmers are facing including Stock Fodder, Rural Mental Health, Household assistance as well as Rural Assistance,” he said.
“We chose the drought because Footprints In Ag is a youth group representing the Mid North Coast group of show societies and the drought is something that is affecting every farmer in NSW at the moment and in turn is affecting agriculture shows throughout the state not just here on the Mid North Coast.”
Andrew said the night always receives a huge thumbs up from those who attend.
