The next round of signs will be installed in Wauchope, Lorne, Comboyne, Byabarra, Bagnoo, Herons Creek and Camden Head in early 2019.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council group manager Lucilla Marshall said the signs recently installed in Camden Haven are proving to be extremely popular with both locals and visitors.
“The entry signage is a great way to reflect the history of our towns and villages, and highlight the character and natural beauty of each unique local environment,” Ms Marshall said.
“The gateways to Laurieton and the surrounding villages have really been brightened up, and we’re looking forward to achieving a similar result across our entire region.”
$50,000 has been allocated by council in 2018/19 for the installation of the signage, which is planned to occur in early 2019, after the community feedback has been reviewed and icons selected.
Additional town and village signage is also planned to be installed in other areas in the coming years, once funding becomes available.
“From local icons and community heroes, wildlife, nature and the local environment, there are many ways that the imagery can reflect the character of each unique town and village, and we’re encouraging the community to think creatively and tell us how you would like your place represented,” Ms Marshall added.
The community have until Friday November 30 to submit icon ideas at council’s website haveyoursay.pmhc.nsw.gov.au/town-and-village-signage
