With some places recording in excess of 100mm of rain over the last few days, Weatherzone’s meteorologist Brett Dutschke said the light rains and humidity is here to stay.

“Over the last few days Port Macquarie has received around 40mm of rain which is around half of the monthly average for October,” Mr Dutschke said.

“However in places like Mt Seaview and Comboyne there has been more than 100mm of rain recorded which is very significant.

“In the coming days that level of rain should not be falling in the Hastings at this stage.”

This rain comes after beaches across the Hastings were closed for some of the week.

He said the next few days would see less rain fall but temperatures increase.

“On Thursday we are expecting things to be fairly breezy with some light rain on the coast developing into thunderstorms inland,” he said.

“There is a chance the thunderstorms will reach the coast but that is not likely at this stage.

“The Port Macquarie-Hastings region will be quite protected in that regard and moving into Friday and the weekend there will be stops of rain but will become increasing humid.”

He said over the next few days temperatures would hover in the low to mid 20s.

“Thursday is expected to reach 24 degrees followed by 25 degrees on Friday.

“That said with the humidity increasing over the weekend temperatures may rise to 27 degrees on Saturday and 25 degrees on Sunday.”
