The Wauchope Bonsai Group is behind the weekend event which features a bonsai exhibition, demonstrations and sale tables.
The group’s president, Steve Wise, said bonsai was a calm and relaxing hobby.
“The appeal is quiet contemplation,” he said.
“If you are a gardener, it gives you another gardening outlet.”
Some 50 bonsai trees are on exhibition with a mix of traditional Japanese-style bonsai and the Chinese penjing form of bonsai.
Mr Wise encourages newcomers to bonsai to join a club to learn from bonsai enthusiasts, while the internet is also a source of information.
Bonsai can be grown from seeds, cuttings or existing plants.
Mr Wise said the Hastings had a lot of bonsai enthusiasts for a single community.
