The event attracted a steady crowd who turned out to admire the variety of orchids and foliage plants on display.
The Hastings River Orchid Society hosted the event and the group is proving to be popular with all ages.
Leticia Lovett is 18-years-old and just joined the group a month ago.
Leticia is enjoying learning about orchids from her grandparents and members of the society.
“It seemed like a fun thing to do,” she said.
Leticia now has two orchids. She won them from raffles held by the Hastings River Orchid Society.
Leticia is learning which types of orchids need lots of water and which ones don’t.
“Some require lots of maintenance, while others can just be left on their own,” she said.
During the day there were two informative talks on how to grow and care for orchids.
