The 300 metre section of Rawdon Island Road was due to reopen this afternoon (Wednesday November 7) but after rain in the area, the road will remain closed for the safety of motorists.
The closure is needed while a section of the road is rebuilt to tie-in to the upgraded Oxley Highway, as the road surface needs dry weather to stabilise.
The current signposted detour will remain in place, adding up to 10 minutes to journeys.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
