Mr Claus gave out candy canes for the kids and coffee vouchers for the adults. As usual, the windows are beautifully decorated and drawing lots of visitors to our town already.
The store had been closed since July this year, due to storm damage and repairs, so the re-opening was highly anticipated.
Store manager Judy Standring enjoys coming up with new ideas for the windows every year, and says it’s a real treat, because so few shops do Christmas displays any more.
A group of very special ladies came to our town from near and far, after watching the film Ladies In Black. Judy Mullen and friends travelled from Gloucester and Forster to meet up, do some shopping and then have dinner in Wauchope.
“We love it,” said Judy.
“We will be coming back next year.”
Wauchope Sing Australia added festive cheer to the official opening of The Department Store with some Christmas songs and carols.
Some of the shoppers joined in the singing, while others relaxed and enjoyed canapes, complimentary wine and some fruit, handed round by Wauchope showgirl finalists, looking very festive in their Santa hats.
The dates for the annual Christmas sales days at the Department Store are December 7 and 8.
