The generous donation was the result of the club’s recent Friendship Day at the Wauchope Country Club, where the women bowlers teamed up with newcomers and visitors to share their passion for lawn bowls while making new friends.
Wauchope Women’s Bowling Club President Marie Winter said the day was an outstanding success with 50 players lining up to enjoy a friendly game of bowls.
“We teamed new players with experienced players, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves,” Ms Winter said.
“Wauchope Country Club kindly donated the green fees for the day, members brought in gifts to be raffled and then bought raffle tickets for the prizes they donated.
“It was definitely a day of friendship and bowls, but it was also a day exemplifying the generosity of our wonderful community.”
Rehabilitation Nursing Unit Manager Kate Williams thanked the lady bowlers for their support.
“We have a wonderful Rehabilitation service here in Wauchope thanks to our team of nurses, doctors and allied health professionals,” Ms Williams said.
“We also know that a significant part of that team effort involves the community, where donations help us to secure equipment and patient comfort items that help those who need our care on the road to recovery.
“We are very grateful to the Wauchope Women’s Bowling Club for thinking of our patients and doing something fun to support them.”
Others who supported the day included Aromatics, beauty therapist Michelle Middleton, Jennifer’s Hair and Robyn Willemsen.
