No-one was injured in the blaze, which took hours to put out.
Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Wauchope, and Wauchope RFS, Beechwood RFS and Lake Innes RFS attended, and there was hazmat support from Fire and Rescue NSW Port Macquarie.
Terri Townsend from Beechwood posted an appeal on Facebook on Saturday saying that a single mum in the village had lost her home to fire and that she and her son had been left with nothing, and that the boy had lost his PlayStation.
“They are staying with a friend and I think it would be nice if the young bloke still had something familiar to keep him sane as well as mum and the friend they are staying with,” wrote Terri.
“I put it to you I’d like to collect donations to purchase him a new one or if anyone has one they don’t use and would like to donate? Or even games to donate?
“A group of us mums are working together to get something bigger going but this is a start point. And size 10 - 12 boys clothes also greatly appreciated.”
Help has poured in from people in the area, and Terri says they now have plenty of clothes and a play station.
“We have such a great community, and we want to thank everyone who helped,” she said.
